La Macina di San Cresci

“Artists are interesting creatures. We can be obsessive, dedicated, spirited and single minded in our pursuit for that perfect realisation of our art. We tend to be outsiders and are often that square peg in the round hole, so when you find an oasis like San Cresci you hold on tight -- for it’s that sense of belonging which welcomes you.”

My artwork explores the misrepresentation of human value as filtered through contemporary media sources. As an interdisciplinary digital media artist, I merge video, sound, photography and animation to create my work. With my videos and animations, I oftentimes will reference film and television as a structure to deliver my message. The loop has always fascinated me as a device to control and manipulate the moving image and sound. With my digital prints I capture images of nature, architecture and the human form that reference moments that are reflective, contemplative or passive, but hold a strong sense of anxiety or stress.
