"My works  are about emotive quality, and the ability to create mood through energetic painting. I was raised in Charleston, South Carolina, a town devoted to the arts, and I grew up taking art lessons. Some of my earliest memories are of pottery classes in Elementary school. Architecture, the ocean, and broad expansive skies began to emerge in my works early on. I trained with many local artists, as well as at the Gibbes School of Art. After winning awards at a young age for drawing, I graduated from Woodberry Forest Boy's School in Virginia, where I learned to paint and value my creative spirit. I also learned the importance of mytology, literature, energy, and color in my work. I wrote poetry and short stories, drew with pastels, painted, and captained a championship tennis team. Afterwards, I graduated with a fine art and art history degree from William and Mary in 2008. At William and Mary, I discovered the figure through to help of my professors. My aggressive and rapid approach to gestural painting and drawing stems from my gesture sculpting classes in the college. Since graduation, I've been living at Salisbury School in Connecticut, where I teach, coach, mentor and guide high school boys. I serve as an "artist in residence", as I have set up my studio at school, and I paint and draw alongside my students as they explore their artistic talents.
