La Macina di San Cresci

“Artists are interesting creatures. We can be obsessive, dedicated, spirited and single minded in our pursuit for that perfect realisation of our art. We tend to be outsiders and are often that square peg in the round hole, so when you find an oasis like San Cresci you hold on tight -- for it’s that sense of belonging which welcomes you.”

My work had evolved over last twenty-one years exhibiting professionally in commercial galleries around Australia. My art works over the last eleven years has explored both the medium of painting and ceramics. The sculptural form and resonance of the ceramic vessel has influenced a series of paintings, exhibited in 2008 and 2009, focusing on a simplicity and totemic presence of form, that has evolved over time to a distilled essence of the land itself, 2011 to the present It is an abstracted landscape that I have been currently developing, with totemic symbols of an enduring inland Australian environment; the river, the trees, the rocks and broad special vistas infuse the work.
My work has always been interested in a sense of history, layered memories, and stories told and untold and unearthed mysterious relics.
