Carole Wilson is an Australian visual artist who grew up in Canberra. She completed undergraduate studies at Philip institute of Techonology (RMIT) in melbourne before undertaking postgraduate studies at the University of Ballarat where she was awarded her doctorate in 2000.
She has recently spent time lecturing at Charles Darwin University in Darwin and is now based at the University of Ballarat in Victoria where she co-ordinates the Honours and Higher Degrees by Research programs. She has exhibited extensively in solo, group and curated shows both within Australia and internationally. Carole has a background in screenprinted political posters but now works primarily with paper, carpet and found objects to create large wall based installations investigating themes of travel, discovery, botany and the history of gardens. Her work is held in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, the Powerhouse Museum, the State Library of Victoria and a number of university and regional galleries. Her posters are in museum collections in Finland, Moscow, Poland and Czech Republic.
