La Macina di San Cresci

“Artists are interesting creatures. We can be obsessive, dedicated, spirited and single minded in our pursuit for that perfect realisation of our art. We tend to be outsiders and are often that square peg in the round hole, so when you find an oasis like San Cresci you hold on tight -- for it’s that sense of belonging which welcomes you.”

Julie studied at RISD, UNK, Chelsea Ceramic Guild, NEIT, FIT, Pierce College and holds a degree in architecture. She works in stained glass, ceramics, acrylic paints and assemblage, in many ways inspired by found objects in the High Desert area. Julie’s studio is in Los Angeles, CA, but she also likes to work while traveling. Recent stays in Portugal, Germany, France and Spain have inspired her color palette and shapes. Staying true to expressing emotion and depth, she strives to maintain integrity while evoking and inspiring positive vibes. Julie’s art seeks to ‘walk in beauty’ and inspire joy and playful imagination. She is greatly inspired by Joan Miro, world travel, science and nature.
