 Marcello Guasti
27 April – 11 May 2013
La Macina di San Cresci participates in the annual SLOW ART DAY

to be held April 27, 2013 and joins the group of more than 230 events planned in the most important museums and galleries around the world.
The exhibition is dedicated to Marcello Guasti who will present the sculpture in terracotta and iron "Il cipresso e la cipressa." Will be screened videos of the life and works of the sculptor.

Marcello Guasti was born in Florence in 1924. He lives and works in Terzano-Florence, Tuscany.
His early works are engravings strictly in black and white, artworks that appear influenced by a reference to the "primitivism" of the German expressionist school and in particular by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Later, especially in the artworks called "renaioli", the signs become more relaxed, less bitter, more Mediterranean, because of the intervention of polychromy. Of fundamental importance is the modern reinterpretation of the classic tradition of the Italian Renaissance, marked by the painting by Paolo Uccello and Piero della Francesca. His activity, however, was mainly that of a sculptor. He has participated in major art exhibition and was present in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Italy and abroad, especially in Germany. In 1946, in 1948 and in 2011 he exhibited at the Biennale of Venice. He was awarded the Prize of the Arts “Florentines in the World 2011”.
