CHARITY AUCTION TO BENEFIT THE ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS OF L'AQUILA
On April 6, 2009, the deadliest Italian earthquake in over 15 years struck the Abruzzo mountain region of Italy, with the town of L'Aquila at its epicenter. The toll was grim with nearly 300 people killed, more than 1,000 injured, and as many as 65,000 residents displaced. Many of those who lost their homes are still living in tent cities.
Fabrizio Pozzoli (www.pozzoart.it) is the protagonist of PIAZZA D'ARTE, an exhibition of contemporary art, where a young artist is invited to make a work in progress in the square of Greve in Chianti (Florence). He has worked for over a month under the gaze of tourists and residents to realize one of his complex and enigmatic figures.
The artist created the work "The new flight" with wire, with no preparatory studies, with no media around to work, simply woven with admirable patience miles and miles of wire.
The sculpture is life size.
The work's title, is a positive message and exhortation that the artist wants to give to the town of L'Aquila, a new impulse to stand out a new flight to the future, for the revival and reconstruction that we all hope and urge.
Starting price: € 8000 .
100% of the proceeds will be donated to ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS OF L'AQUILA
