La Macina di San Cresci , established in 2001, is a place for creation, presentation and documentation of contemporary art in all its forms.
The centre consists of gallery, studios and a residence for artists. This historic setting was restored with the intent of providing a setting to accommodate and imagine new forms of dialogue within the context of art and culture.

The Macina di San Cresci is member of RES ARTIS,  the International Association of Residential Arts Centre , established in the Netherlands in the 1993. It is the largest existing network  of artist residency programs numbering over 200 members drawn from more than 40 countries.

OUR OBJECTIVES :

To expand the use of the extant architectural structure and adjacent landscape by incorporating the past into the present through art.
To promote this historically significant area, while providing the local population with an opportunity to engage in a cultural exchange with the international art system.
To develop a cultural exchange at local, national and international levels through the involvement and participation of foreign institutions, both public and private.
To be a laboratory of experience where artist-teachers and young artists can work together.
To encourage the mobility of artists interested in exploring their ideas in a well appointed studio far from home.
To activate an information system on-line by creating a database of the artist's "in residence" and their projects as well as an area for the disciplines of the workshop sessions.
ACTIVITIES:
Artists exhibitions that invite a comparison between different cultures and artistic languages
Conferences, seminars, workshops with artists, curators and national and international gallery owners, curatorial projects.
As a residence for artists who wish to produce original work in relation to the land.
Upon application it is possible to reserve the space for: small conferences (maximum capacity 50 people), as a photographic studio, and for educational workshops of various types.

Duccio Trassinelli
Professor of Methodology of Design at the  I.S.I.A.  (Institute of Industrial Design) in Florence , for a decade.
In 1970, he founded  the " Studio A.R.D.I.T.I." , beginning to take an  interest in the field of interior design. With the other members of the  group, he developed objects  with original features and a new philosophy of use, some of which have been shown in numerous national and international exhibitions.In 1973,  the magazine "Bolaffi Casa" bestowed its "Design of the Month"  award upon the armchair  " Memoria" , manufactured  by Cassina in 1972. Memoria has  been shown  at the  Eurodomus 1972 15th Milan Triennale, the 2008  Milan Triennale "Made in Cassina" , and is in the  permanent collection  of the  Museum of  CASSINA.
Trassinelli was among the first to experiment with  low-voltage suggesting lights that not only illuminate, but also  play with surfaces and space; The BT lamp produced by SORMANI in 1972 is in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in  New York.
His activity in Industrial Design has been and it is very heterogeneous.
In collaboration with the companies ANIC and BAYER, he developed worked electrical systems for prefabricated structures.
In the field of engineering, he developed  electronic tools for Officine Bettarini and in the transportation  field,  he designed  the  ATM city buses in Milan, manufactured  by Officine BREDA, Pistoia. he designed the  first magnetic  reader with separate keyboard for SOLIS  ELECTRONIC
He has worked with numerous public and private entities including designing a range of urban furnishings  for the CITY OF FLORENCE. He have many domestic and international Patents.Trassinelli recently  has designed a new series of lamps (limited edition) in wood with electromagnetic contact. With this system has also designed a display panel for art galleries.
Trassinelli is an avid traveler and photographer.

She attended the University of Architecture in Florence.
Have worked free-lance with several architectural firms,and then  has joined the staff of Duccio Trassinelli.
From 25 years she  agrees with him the job and life.
